Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On behalf of staff and students, welcome to the Holy Ghost School community.

Holy Ghost School was built in October of 1902 as a three story school in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The founder of Holy Ghost School was Rev. John Kulawy, O.M.I. who arrived in Canada in 1897. The creation of this splendid new school was made possible because of the faith, generosity, and sacrifice of our parishioners.

Holy Ghost School is a tremendously vibrant, Christ-centered school community of life long learners. I am proud to be a part of this special community. Our school is a warm and welcoming place where dedicated staff learn and grow with our students.

Holy Ghost School functions in the true spirit of a peaceful community where our students feel happy, safe and secure. A community that invests time, money and energy into the cause of Catholic education. We are committed to the highest of expectations, for our children and for ourselves. We are deeply appreciative of all families for choosing the gift of Catholic education for their children, and accept the responsibility of making each student’s educational experience as rich as it can be.

Holy Ghost School focuses on the development of the whole child, nurturing natural curiosity, creativity and joyful discovery in flexible learning spaces. Our fundamental goal is to facilitate spiritual, self-directed learning, critical thinking and creative problem solving while instilling confidence. We place a particular emphasis on skill development in addition to curricular expectations.

Our dedicated and dynamic faculty create an encouraging and stimulating environment for Holy Ghost students, ensuring access to everything they need to learn and flourish. We take pride in noticing the unique talent of each student and offer balanced opportunities in academics, leadership, athletics and the arts.

We believe that families are essential partners in a school experience and should not be isolated from one another. We understand that communication and collaboration are critical to success.

It is an honour and privilege to serve and lead a school community that is so unique. I invite you to explore our site, and visit us to experience this extraordinary environment where students love to learn.

Whether you have been a part of our school for generations or are joining us for the first time, we welcome you to our ‘school family’. I look forward to another great year!

Prayer for the Beginning of the New School Year

Dear Lord, as we begin this new school year, we gather once again as your community of believers.  We thank you for the energy and the spirit that you renewe in us through the summer months.

We thank you for the time to enjoy our family and friends and to reflect on what is important in our lives.

Let this year be marked by enthusiasm and love so that, with the inspiration of your Spirit, we may continue to grow in our faith.  Help us to fulfill Your hope for us with honest intentions and works of faith.

Let us be gentle with ourselves and bring laughter, joy and love to others.

We ask this in your name.

Amen.
