Parents
Parents play an important role in the education of their children. Strong family engagement is central to promoting the healthy intellectual, physical, social-emotional, and spiritual development of children. Parents who are involved in preparing their children for school and who support their academic achievement in elementary and beyond ensure their children’s successful educational experiences.
At Holy Ghost School, students + parents + teachers = great partners. Parent participation is fundamental for students’ success. Our combined partnership and commitment will help in the development in your child’s skills, knowledge and faith. Our parent-teacher relationship has a significant impact on students’ academic and developmental outcomes. Here at Holy Ghost, our parent community is very active and engaged in all aspects of school life. If you are interested in becoming more involved (ex. volunteering), please contact the school office or your child’s teacher.
Parent advisory council (PAC)
Did you know that all parents or guardians of a student attending Holy Ghost School are members of the Parent Advisory Council? That’s right! If you are looking for a way to get involved in our school community and are willing to share your time, talents and ideas, we would love to see you at our next meeting! Your participation on the PAC is also a great way to earn volunteer hours!
Volunteering
As parents and guardians we understand that life can be very busy. However, the benefits of volunteering can be enormous. You can feel great about being an active participant in your child’s school community, but will also see firsthand that your time invest now will reap tremendous benefits later. Read more about current volunteer opportunities and how you can get involved at Holy Ghost School.
Fundraising
Holy Ghost School participates in a variety of fundraisers throughout the school year. These range from selling chocolates to organizing a Gala event. Proceeds from these fundraisers help pay for a variety of things such as new books, field trips, and new equipment for students to use.
Hot Lunches
Our current hot lunch program runs weekly Tuesdays to Thursdays. The lunches are provided by the following restaurants:
Tuesday Boston Pizza Day
Wednesday Charlee’s Restaurant
Thursday Subway Day
Parents can opt to purchase hot/cold lunches for their child(ren) by placing monthly orders. Orders must be placed online before the end of each month for the upcoming month through the MunchaLunch link below.
Milk Program
This year, Holy Ghost School will once again be taking part in the School Milk Program funded by the Dairy Farmers of Manitoba. The focus of this program is to encourage children to drink more milk. Milk provides many essential nutrients, as well as calcium, which is important for the growth of strong bones and teeth.
Students who drink milk during lunch, whether brought from home or bought at school, will receive a ballot to enter the school milk draw. Draws for prizes will be held at the end of every week.
To order milk tickets, please fill in the form below and return it to the office with payment. Payment can be made by cash, cheque (payable to Holy Ghost School), e-transfer to payments@holyghostschool.ca or in the office by interac/debit. Printed order forms can also be obtained throughout the year in the school office.
